Subject: Closing of Abortion Clinic in Atlantic City
Last week Alternatives, an abortion provider clinic, was closed due to health violations and infection control issues. An anonymous complaint was made to the state's Department of Health and Human Services. The details of the complaint issued and the inspection report has not been released to the public.
As an organization dedicated to the reproductive health, safety, and rights of women, NARAL Pro-Choice New Jersey support clinics who offer a high standard of care to their patients as the vast majority of all health care providers do. In the case when a facility may not be meeting New Jersey state standards, we support all efforts by the state to ensure those facilities are safe for patients. This includes ensuring that the regulations put in place are in the best interest of patient care and not onerous restrictions manufactured by anti choice forces aimed only at clinics that do pregnancy terminations.
NARAL Pro-Choice NJ strongly recommends that you write to Governor Jon S. Corzine and Fred Jacobs the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, in support of enforcing our state’s high quality of patient care standards within our abortion clinics.
